St Mary’s Catholic High School / 6 Jun
Today marked the 80th Anniversary of D Day. Form time this week has been dedicated to learning about D Day and hearing stories from veterans. This lunchtime, our dining room served 1940s inspired food to a musical soundtrack from the period. On the menu was:
Shepherd’s pie with cheesy dumplings
Bubble & squeak
Cauliflower cheese
Pear & raisin crumble
Lemon shortbread
Anzac biscuits
Jam tarts
We were delighted to welcome Bishop Ralph to our school who joined us for lunch. As always, the behaviour of our pupils was exemplary and we thank them for this. Miss Charmak, our Faith in Action Lead, led a special version of our end of day prayer.
God our refuge and strength,
as we remember those
who faced danger and death in Normandy,
eighty years ago,
grant us courage to pursue what is right,
the will to work with others,
and strength to overcome tyranny and oppression,
through Jesus Christ,
to whom belong dominion and glory,
now and for ever.
Amen.
