It is our mission, as a Catholic school, to ensure that each and every one of our pupils has the opportunity to fulfil their God-given potential, allowing them to ‘Live, Love and Learn in the Light of Christ’.
We are committed to realising this through the provision of an outstanding education. Our curriculum is at the heart of this experience and aims to:
We strive to offer a personalised learning experience in which we are able to discover and develop the talents and abilities of each and every student in our care. A wide range of pathways ensures that all students are provided with the opportunity to grow, develop and realise their potential. Five core curriculum principles underpin our provision, and at all levels the curriculum is designed to be:
Our curriculum reflects the high aspirations we hold for our pupils. It is designed to meet the interests, needs and ambitions of all learners, including those who are disadvantaged and students with special educational needs. It is rigorous in covering the body of knowledge and skills required at each stage, whilst being inclusive, relevant and engaging. High-quality careers guidance supports pupils in forming and realizing their own ambitions as they move through the curriculum.
Pupils experience a broad, fully rounded curriculum in which they are given the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects. The curriculum remains as broad as possible for as long as possible. There are a range of subject routes and pathways, supporting pupils’ interests, needs and aspirations. These include vocational as well as academic pathways.
Our knowledge-rich curriculum is carefully sequenced to promote progress. Teaching builds upon prior knowledge, skills and understanding, and there is a clear narrative of what is taught, why it is taught, and how it is taught and assessed. A clear overview of the curriculum enables a joined up approach to common and key skills. Literacy and numeracy are promoted across the curriculum and championed by all subjects.
We are ambitious in securing deep, firmly embedded learning. Learning is supported by frequent opportunities to recall, revisit and practise prior knowledge and understanding.
Our curriculum aims to expand the horizons of our pupils by providing the opportunity for them to experience the very best of what is thought, written and created. A wide variety of curricular and extracurricular opportunities enrich pupils’ educational experience and support personal development.
